Goony birds in flight, aka booby birds of Christmas Island. You could often see them mixing it with CI frigate birds up around the limestone cliffs. Very elegant and agile in flight, but much less so when coming in for a landing - ha ha!😝

Lily Beach was a fave place of mine on Christmas Island. But if you walked to the right hand side of the beach, through thick forest and scrub, you would come to the cliff top where this photo was taken. The limestone cliff top was home to many a brown footed booby bird, some with chicks. Awesome!

Just one of the stunning land/sea scapes of Christmas Island. If you looked carefully, you could often spot nesting seabirds along the limestone cliff edge. The brown footed booby birds in particular loved these areas.

Love the expression on this red-tailed tropic bird. It kept trying to land on the cliff top I was standing on - I only realised later that a nearby bush had its nest with its chick in it, so I was effectively in its way when it was trying to return to its nest - whoops!

Isn't the power of nature wonderful? You give it half a chance and it will take over and regenerate once again...This 1946 Whitcomb locomotive has been abandoned for many a year, still mounted on old rail tracks next to Murray Rd on Christmas Island. It is now adorned in the most amazing ferns and epiphytes as the rainforest grows back over it. Awesome!
